Pint of Science Festival - May 19-21
The Pint of Science festival aims to deliver interesting, fun and relevant cutting-edge science talks in an accessible format to the public - in Cambridge pubs! (and 44 pubs across eight different cities in the UK, and internationally - France, USA, Switzerland, Australia and the Republic of Ireland.)
The Festival provides a platform which allows people to discuss research with the people who carry it out. It is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers and was established by a community of postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers in 2012.
The festival takes place over three days simultaneously in multiple pubs. Last year they had 15 pubs in London, Oxford and Cambridge, with each pub hosting an event every night of the festival. In total, there were 45 events and nearly 90 speakers.
This year the Pint of Science festival will take place Monday 19th - Wednesday 21st May 2014.
It features four topics:
• Matters of the Mind (neurosciences and psychology)
• Understanding our Bodies (life sciences)
• Chemistry & Physics
• Planet Earth (earth sciences)
